The authors have performed additional experiments affecting the interpretation of the results in this paper. While the protocol and data remain sound and reproducible, we believe we have disconfirmed the proposed hypothesis that applied voltage affects pNIPAM aggregation behavior directly. Rather, we have reason to believe that our observed voltage-dependent process occurs specifically with the use of copper tape electrodes. We tested alternate electrode materials and did not recapitulate the voltage-dependent effects on pNIPAM. These results have been published in ECS Transactions and submitted to PubMed Central: J.
